A POET'S CRADLE

Juan Ramón Jiménez's Birthplace is in Moguer, a village in the Province of Huelva, Spain.

In this house, Juan Ramón Jiménez, the Nobel Prize of Literature 1956, was born on December 23, 1881. He lived there for two years. The house was immortalized in his masterpiece Platero and I .

"Here in this big house today, the Civil Guard barracks, I was born, Platero .... "

In 2004 it was declared by the Andalusian of ”cultural interest”. From 2001 to 2007 it has been the site of Zenobia and Juan Ramón Jiménez House Museum and Foundation while executing comprehensive restoration of the original place. Currently it is getting outfitted to "Maritime Museum".
